Visit the City of Bath

Why not enjoy some midweek touring in the beautiful city of Bath. The city has remained faithful to its Regency roots, with an abundance of elegant terraces, circuses and squares in a picturesque valley setting. The magnificent Royal Crescent is a must-see and the central square is home not only to Bath Abbey, but also the ancient Roman Baths. The famous Tea Rooms are open all week. The city has an excellent selection of shops; especially along the Pulteney Bridge, one of only four bridges in the world to feature shops across its full span on both sides. Bath is a short drive from the holiday park (23 miles) via the B3135.

Visiting Somerset

Explore the best of Somerset on a delightful short midweek break. Visit the Victorian seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, the heritage of the West Somerset Railway or see the beauty of Regency Bath. Why not discover the natural wonder of the awe-inspiring Cheddar Gorge on a scenic drive though the spectacular Somerset countryside, it’s literally a few minutes from our holiday park Strawberryfield Park making us the perfect midweek holiday location.

West Somerset Railway and Minehead

All aboard the West Somerset Railway for a nostalgic journey stretching 20 miles from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. Travelling through the gently rolling Quantock Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you can pass the unspoilt villages and farms nestling in leafy lanes before following the cliffs and coast between Exmoor and the Bristol Channel with distant views of South Wales. Why not visit the traditional coastal resort of Minehead with its long promenade, beautiful long golden sandy beach and harbour, and have some midweek time to explore at leisure. Minehead is a short drive from our holiday park (44 miles) via the A39.

Visit Weston-super-Mare

“Oh we do love to be beside the seaside”……a midweek trip to the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare where there is plenty to see and do. Here you can experience the traditional seaside attractions, stroll along the long beach and maybe watch the tide roll in and watch the donkeys walk the beach, enjoy an ice cream while discovering the refurbished Grand Pier or take in the picturesque views across the Bristol Channel while enjoying a coffee or long drink sat on the terraces of one of the many Hotels or Stones Cafe on the Knightstone Harbour Island. Weston-super-Mare is a short drive from our holiday park (12 miles) via A371.

Visit Bristol

You’ll need a full day excursion to visit the City of Bristol which straddles the River Avon. Maybe drive across the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge built by Engineer Brunel, the famouse bridge spans acrosss the River Avon and hosts spectacular views, it can also be walked acrosss. Isambard Kingdom Brunel had a foothold on Bristol, with many amazing feats inccluding his famous SS Great Britain ship. This iconic steam-ship is the world’s first great Ocean Liner and Bristol’s number one attraction. A must visit when in Somerset. The ship was rescued from rust and wreckage in 1970 and she has been lovingly restored to her Victorian hey-day. Maybe a visit to the M Shed museum which tells the story of the city and its unique place in the world through interactive displays. If time permits you may wish to explore some of the shops or perhaps consider a visit to the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery where you will find over 19 galleries on three floors containing some of the world class collections of art and archaeology – it currently includes Banksy’s Paint Pot Angel and a Bristol Boxkite bi-plane. Bristol is a short drive from our holiday park (19 miles) via A38.

Midweek Tours in Somerset

There’s many independent City Tours to choose from when visiting Somerset. A midweek break may be the perfect time to visit as quieter than weekends. Summer Holidays tend to be busier and driving times may vary. There are park and ride options for both Cities, Bristol and Bath. Weston-super-Mare and Minehead offer lots of car park areas and off street parking.
